H1N1 Clinic Information
Monday, 02 November 2009 13:47

As of Monday October 26, 2009, the first clinic at Leicester will run as planned. The date for the clinic is November 9th, 10AM. The state is postponing all second clinics until all schools that have requested clinics have had at least one clinic. The second clinic will be around six weeks after the initial vaccinations are given.

All students who are receiving the vaccine should wear a short-sleeved shirt

All parents will receive a card that states that their child has been vaccinated. There is also a note to go home to parents if a child did not receive a vaccination. After the clinic, parents should check their student’s communication folders for these notes.

Autumn Festival & Trail Dedication
Monday, 02 November 2009 13:42

The Autumn Festival And Nature Trail Dedication on October 27 was a huge success. Twenty five Leicester students and their families participated in the event. Children and families made bird feeders, cooked seasonal foods, listened to stories, hiked the trail and created seasonal crafts. Approximately 50 people were present for the Trail Dedication. The Leicester School community is thankful for the Friends of Leicester Central School for creating the Nature Trail and for their commitment to the children and families of Leicester.

I made a bird feeder and put it on a tree on the nature trail.
We used ice cream cones, peanut butter and bird seed to make it.

SOAR After-school News
Monday, 02 November 2009 13:27

The Daily SOAR after school program at Leicester is currently being re-evaluated and is not available at Leicester School although parents interested in having their children attend may enroll in the program at Neshobe School. Transportation to the program is available via bus and pick up by parents is at Neshobe.

The Winter SOAR brochure will be sent home next week and is packed full of exciting programs for all grades. Enrollment numbers for all SOAR programs are limited, and family and student commitment to participation is important, so be sure to submit your forms by the deadline.

Club runs on Mondays and several are offered each  session.  A new session begins November 2 and students will explore flight, floatation and dinosaurs as well as learn to sew.

For those in grades 5-6 enrolled in Outdoor Adventure, the next session is scheduled for Friday, November 6.

If interested in enrolling, please contact Nancy Bird, SOAR Site Coordinator, at 247-3721, Ext. 105 to obtain a form or pick one up at the school.  Fees vary by program and financial assistance is available.
